The Romans also built temples in the pharaonic style to get closer to the Egyptians. An example of these temples is a small temple on the island of Philae, which was built by Emperor Trajan.

When Christianity became the official religion of the country in the fifth century AD, most of the temples of the Pharaohs turned into churches, and the island of Philae was the center of one of the bishops, which led to the spread of Christianity to the south towards Nubia in Egypt and Sudan.

Since the spread of Islam and its emergence; Many inscriptions in Kufic script dating back to the first century AH have been found. Aswan flourished in the Islamic era in the tenth century AD, as it was a road to Ayzab on the Red Sea coast, from which ships sailed to the Hejaz, Yemen and India. It was also an important cultural center in the sixth and seventh centuries AH, and it had three schools, the oldest of which was the Aswan School The Seifia School, and the Star School in Aswan.
